TEMA

Die term "tema" verwys na die hoofidee in die drama.
The term "theme" refers to the main idea in the drama.

In Fiela (volgens die boek Fiela se Kind - Skooluitgawe) is die temas:

* Die mens se soeke na identiteit

* Rasseverskille

* Sosiale status/klas

* Die samelewing se manier om kleuronderskeid te tref en geneigdheid om volgens kleur te stereotipeer

Motiewe

Motiewe is sake wat herhaal word in die drama
Motives are issues that are repeated in the drama

- Buitestanderskap - Lukas en Nina is beide buitestanders, op verskillende maniere. Dit verduidelik hoekom hy 'n plek soek om te behoort asook sy identiteit.
- Being an outsider - Lukas and Nina are both outsiders, but in different ways. It explains why he looks for a place to belong as well as his identity.
- Strewe om 'n ideaal te verwesenlik bv.
- Striving to achieve a goal eg.
